Tips, Comments and Reviews : Site of Rizalís Execution

Dr. Jose Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines. Spanish colonial authorities sentenced him to death on grounds that his novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo contained nationalist ideas that were influencing a revolution against Spain. His death became a turning point in the course of Philippine history, followed by a revolution that ended more than 300 years of Spanish rule in the country. His martyrdom is highlighted and remembered through the bronze statues on this site, accompanied by light and sound displays at night.
