Tips, Comments and Reviews : The Battle Box

Hi, everyone! The Battle Box is currently closed for renovations. We'll be sure to let you know when it will be back in business, once we hear from the Singapore Tourism Board.

Located around 10 meters below ground right in Fort Canning Park, this is a seriously massive military bunker turned museum with a lot of mystery. The Battle Box was where Gen. Percival surrendered Singapore to the Japan on February 1942. The Japanese then used it for 'undisclosed purposes' and then completely sealed it. The Battle Box did not see the light of day again until 1988, when it was rediscovered after 55 years.

Last entry to the Battle Box is 5pm. Head to the museum quickly by riding the MRT to Dhoby Ghaut station - it's a short walk to Fort Canning Park from there.

There is a mysterious locked room in the underground bunker and it is between the Surrender Conference room and Gun Operations Room. Unfortunately, it is still out of bounds to all visitors of the Battle Box. If you are still curious and don't mind fiction stirring your imagination, try reading Raymond Han's 'Mystery of the Battle Box'.
