How much to rent an apartment in Manila

I saw some listings on AirBNB and the prices seem to be steep -- around $500 a month. Is it really that expensive to rent a flat in Manila? Am I missing something? I wish to stay for two months. Area is not that important, though I would prefer an apartment that connects to the metro/train. - HeMan - Guest

$500 a month for a decent flat is just about right, if not a really good deal, especially when you plan on staying in prime areas. You can rent fully furnished condominiums in Manila for about Php 10,000 a month (that's about $250), including association dues, but this rarely includes utility bills (add another 3,000 to 5,000 Php or $75 to $150 for electricity, internet, water, cable tv, etc. and then some for food and other essentials). Be prepared to spend upwards of Php25,000 ($550)  per month, probably more if you want a location near transport hubs and CBDs.
