What are good souvenirs from Manila and where can I buy them

I don't mean t-shirts or tacky mugs. By souvenir I mean something substantial and meaningful. - Troy4 - Guest

good souvenirs Manila where buy
Souvenir-hunting is quite an experience in Manila, especially if you're the type that enjoys native crafts and pure, unadulterated Philippine art. Neighboring Asian countries have their unique weaves and tapestries (Philippines have those too), but in Manila, native furniture and handicrafts are the best things to lookout and bargain for.

Tesoro's in Makati (along Pasay Road) is your best bet if you want world-class items, variety, and superior craftsmanship. However, prices may be steep in this high-end joint, especially if you are looking for rare finds.

Filipiniana sections in top malls (SM's Kultura Filipino and similar specialty shops) carry a whole selection of shell, wood, and fibercraft, along with unique art, native collections, and even apparel and native picks such as local wines and brews. Balikbayan Handicrafts has several shops around the Metro, including Makati and Pasay City. It offers export-quality souvenirs ranging from miniature calesas and jeepneys to dolls, carabao horns, religious articles, and more.

Tiendesitas is another favorite, attracting tourists and locals alike. It offers an incredible mix of native furniture, handicrafts, and other interesting souvenirs, and prices aren't as steep as its rivals.
