My budget is very small, around $10 a night. I just need a clean bed, no air conditioning necessary. What hostels do you recommend? - Dreamy - Guest
There are a lot of other options within your price range, many of which offer really good amenities (and locations) like Hostellery near Manila Bay (Php 500 or a little over $10 per night), and Green Mango Inn and Welcome Home Guesthouse, also near the airport (Php 405 or less than $10 per night). All these are located in safe neighborhoods, with good access to public transport.
Manila International Youth Hostel is one safe place for accommodation that you can consider while in Manila. It's a street from Roxas Boulevard and located in a tree-lined area near Baclaran Redemptionist Church. The hostel is close to public transportation hubs in Roxas Boulevard. From there, it is easy to get to SM Mall of Asia in one jeepney ride, and you can reach the airport in less than 20 minutes by cab. MIYH has double and single rooms that are air-conditioned and have hot/cold showers and cable TV. Wi-Fi is available, too. If you need toiletries or a snack, there is an on-site store. This hostel is at 4227-4229 Tomas Claudio Street in Baclaran.
Another choice is Our Melting Pot, which is being managed by backpackers, so if you need travel tips or advice, you can approach them. They can help organize tours upon request. The hostel is on the fourth floor of Mavenue Building, 7844 Makati Avenue corner Guerrero Street, Makati City.
