Is Singapore walkable

I hear that cabs are expensive, so I plan to walk as much as possible. Has anyone actually explored the whole of Singapore by foot? I'm reasonably fit (marathoner). - Pinoy Traveler - Guest

Singapore walkable
First up, SG is small, but not as small as you might think. Many hotels near the city center are within walking distance of tourist spots, particularly those near or within Orchard Road.

If you can find a hotel that is perfectly placed for areas that you want to visit, you'd find the city to be very walkable (include MRT travel, though). From City Hall and other MRT stops, many destinations are within walking distance, like MErlion Park, the National Museum, and Civic District.

Streets are very well signposted for walking tours, especially in Padang Area, where there are many interesting things to see. Basically, just run Googlemaps or any trusty satellite map application to get a good idea of the walking distances between places. The MRT is definitely a cheaper alternative if you don't want to spend a fortune on cabs.
