What are the best gay hangouts in Singapore

Also, are there many openly-gay men in Singapore? Or is it a very traditional society? - JerryM. - Guest

Legally, SG is not very gay-friendly (with laws against 'outrages on decency'), but in reality, the place (and people) are very tolerable of LGBTs, long as you don't pull too much attention, especially in public. Singaporeans are an open-minded people, and you'll feel perfectly comfortable and safe just being yourself around them. Then again, discretion is your friend if you don't want to get in trouble with more conservative members of the society. Just pull back on the PDA and declaring your love in public and you'll be fine.

As for good gay venues, there are quite a lot of places to choose from, whether you are into the outdoors or simply want to play and have fun in bars and clubs. Hong Lim Park is a popular gay hangout, and has quite a reputation in the international gay tourist scene. There are plenty of discos and bars where you can enjoy eccentric signature cocktails and shows, ranging from Taboo, Zouk, and DYMK (Does Your Mother Know).

If you want a break from the pulsing music, lime cocktails, and dances, take time to visit some LGBT-themed arts and performance venues like The Substation and Utterly Art or relax in upmarket saunas like Club One-Seven and 10 men's Club.
